Pipistrel is the market leader in the area of production and design of efficient aircraft, and innovative electric and hybrid aircraft propulsion.

In 30 years of existence it developed different unique aircraft: from weight-shift powered hang-gliders to gliders and fast light planes over to high-tech 4-seat motorplanes with three different types of propulsion: petrol engine, hybrid or electric. Such aircraft are very environment friendly and very quiet, which makes them ideal for surveillance work and special missions.

Pipistrel can boast with numerous unique innovations and achievements: already in 2001 a french team became world champions on a Pipistrel aircraft and a Slovene aviator Matevž Lenarčič flew around the globe twice.The Virus SW aircraft won the NASA challenge for the »best small aircraft in the world« in 2007 and 2008, and in 2011 the aircraft Taurus G4 became world's first fully electric 4-seat aircraft, winning the NASA challenge for the 3rd time.

Pipistrel received  “European Business Award” for Innovation in 2010, being chosen as “the most innovative company in the European Union”. Because of many important achievements, the president of the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Danilo Türk, decorated the Pipistrel team in 2011 with the highest civil award in the country: the Golden Order for services to the Republic of Slovenia.

Pipistrel's network of dealers spans over 90 countries on all continents. They produce one aircraft per day. all the future development is directed into gree propulsion such as hydrogen and electricity.  For this purpose a new self-sustainable  production hall was built, where Pipistrel will produce also one "Panthera" aircraft per day - this is the first 4-seat aircraft on the market available with 4 different types of propulsion: car fuel, hybrid or fully electric.
